Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids is a series of Chinese textbooks specifically designed for kids from non-Chinese backgrounds. Its eautifully designed illustrations, simple sentences and dialogues and lovely songs among other means are adopted to develop the kids’ interest in learning Chinese and help them lay a solid Chinese foundation by mastering such fundamental Chinese knowledge.

 

The 2nd edition introduces several key improvements: it removes pinyin instruction for young learners, expands the number of taught single-component characters from 28 to 61, integrates listening practice into speaking activities for combined training, and strengthens cross-curricular learning—such as using multiplication tables to support both Chinese numeracy and maths learning.
