Beijing Mingsheng Lancui (Spectacular Senic Sights of Beijing)

Beijing, capital of the People's Republic of China, is a city of history and culture. Although some of the city's old buildings have disappeared, Beijing's historical sites - reminiscent of the people who lived here and events that occurred - remain. The capital's architectural monuments are, most famously: that colossal military installation known as the Great Wall; the Forbidden City, largest and best preserved imperial building complex in China; the Summer Palace and Beihai Park imperial resorts; the magnificent Temple of Heaven sacrificial compound; Yonghegong Lamasery, imperial temple of Tibetan Buddhism; and the Ming Tombs, where 13 Ming emperors are buried. Of these and Beijing's many other places of scenic and historic interest, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Ming Tombs and the Peking man site at Zhoukoudian have been designated world cultural heritage.
