Birds in China

A great variety of birds can be found in China, many of them rare species and some found only in certain districts of China. Since the founding of the PRC, several nature reserves have been established which have saved many precious species from extinction. The author, Xu Weishu, is a member of the executive council of the Chinese Society of Ornithology and its deputy secretary general. His vivid and interesting account of the variety, distribution and habits of China's birds is complemented by nearly 100 colour photographs.
