Garden of Repose

'Garden of Repose(English Version)' is created due to the author s impression when twice returning to home in Chengdu during the Anti-Japanese War, telling the story of big families after decline. Through the clue of a mansion, the novel describes unfortunate story of the two masters during the whole old society; while the unearned money becomes the reason for the downfall and gives their descendants a chance to fall. In the book, there are four lines: the love between blind musician and female busker, the internal worries of the master of the garden, the tragedy of old master, and the writer s concern for the hostess. These four interesting lines interweave to progress and end skillfully respectively. By only 120,000 words, the book is very well-written, making it a smooth reading.
