This book can be used by college freshmen in their first semester.
There are 30 lessons in this book. All these lessons practice words pronunciation, intonation, including rhyme, tones and sentence stress, which help students to lay a solid foundation to listen to and recognize sounds. The author arranged the exercises step by step: the first six lessons focus on practicing rhyme, tones, pronunciation and intonation; Lesson 6~15 provides integrated exercises on pronunciation and tones as well as listening comprehension of dialogues. Lesson 16~30 focuses on practicing dialogues, listening comprehension of short passages and strengthens practicing pronunciation and tones. All the exercises in each lesson are closely correlated with the corresponding grammatical items of Chinese Course and can be used together with it.

本教程是“对外汉语本科系列教材 一年级教材”《汉语教程》修订本的配套听力教材，也可以作为初级听力训练教材单独使用。
配合《汉语教程》修订本，本教程调整了语法项目、生词选用等教学内容，增加了听后回答、提问、填空等功能性练习，并比较严格地控制了录音文本的生词量，基本上用《汉语教程》修订本出现的词语编写。第一册30课，第二册20课，第三册30课。
本教程的《学习参考》和配套录音很有特色，设计和制作充分考虑了使用者的需要。《学习参考》包括录音文本和答案等，为大多数拼音练习加上了汉字提示，方便有需求的学生自主学习。录音MP3根据初级听力教学的需要，每项练习提供了两遍录音，预留了做题时间，在课本大的练习项目上还标注了起始时间，方便操作。
课本和《学习参考》一同定价销售，配套录音MP3另售。
