Highlights of Tibetan History

The Tibetan people are of China's 56 nationalities. With a total population of roughly 3.5 million, they spread over one fourth of the country's land area. Their written history dates back more than 1.400 years. There have been a great number of intensive studies of Tibetan history and culture by scholars both at home and abroad. But in Highlights of Tibetan History, the authors explain for the first time the evolution of the Tibetans in the light of the law of social development common to all mankind and as a component part of the entire Chinese nation. Wang Furen and Suo Wenqing are researchers at the Central Institute of Nationalities in Beijing and have long years of experience in teaching the Tibetan history. They have several times gone to regions inhabited by Tibetans to carry out investigations and collect materials.
Arranged both chronologically and by subject, the book gives a clear account of the major events and important figures in the Tibetan history. Interesting anecdotes are woven into the narrative, thus making the reading both enlightening and fascinating.
