Jump High ----- Reading Idioms

Jump High—Reading Idioms is a series of elective textbooks for foreign senior undergraduates majoring in Chinese language and literature in China. It can also be used as a textbook for senior foreign graduates of Chinese major. 180 idioms are analyzed and explained in detail in this book, most of which are selected from Syllabus of Graded Chinese Proficiency: Vocabulary and Characters, Teaching Syllabus of Chinese for Foreign Students of Chinese Major in Higher Education Institutions, The Graded Chinese Syllables, Characters and Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages, and Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education, and preference is given to idioms appeared in all the four syllabuses.

When explaining the meanings of the idioms, this book provides the necessary pragmatic information to help students understand and use idioms correctly. Some idioms are provided with allusions and their translations in modern Chinese. Each idiom is provided with a certain number of example sentences to illustrate how idioms are used in real-life situations. To enhance students’ understanding of the idioms, it designs the “Idiom Tips” section. In the perspective of teaching evaluation, it also designs abundant exercises and a final test
