The 2-volume books are revised and enlarged on the basis of Chinese Situational Dialogues while following the original stylistic rules and layout, compiling principles and purpose. The first volume includes those situations of the original edition that stand the test of times with a few revisions and enlargements on the basis of social development. In the second volume,nearly 50% of the texts are newly added, including information and topics in modern times. The book follows its original features as an elementary oral Chinese textbook. whose total amount of new words is about 1350 yet that of exercises doubles in comparison with the original edition. The exercises adopt different forms and new situations apart from those appeared in the texts so as to encourage the learners to think and express in vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned from the texts. This is an effective way to reinforce an improve oral communication competence in Chinese.
