Erich Maria Remak (1898-1970), formerly known as Erich Paul Remak, volunteered to participate in the First World War in 1916, and moved to the Western Front in 1917. He recorded the experiences of himself and other soldiers on the battlefield, and wrote these experiences into the novel 'No War on the Western Front' in 1928, ten years after the end of the First World War.
