The four masterpieces 'Water Margin', 'The Romance of the Three Kingdoms', 'Journey to the West' and 'A Dream of Red Mansions' have long been well known. Many outstanding painters have painted chapters or embroideries in them. The author of this book has been engaged in the research of traditional figure paintings, and created original paintings of ladies in Qingzhuang. Now I have rearranged the manuscripts of the four masterpieces drawn for many years, and some have been recreated and redrawn. Zhao Chengwei is currently the art editor of China Drama Publishing House. He loved painting since he was a child, and began to study painting with his father Zhao Huachuan since the age of ten, copying extensively the works of famous artists of the past dynasties. He studied under Teng Zaichuan and Huang Jun successively. In 1992, under the careful guidance of the famous red scholar Zhou Ruchang, he engaged in the research and creation of Qingzhuang 'A Dream of Red Mansions'.
