Son of Heaven was awarded the Mao Dun Prize for Literature in 1991 and is perhaps the best known among the number of highly praised historical novels written by author Ling Li.
About Author
Ling Li,a native of Yudu County, Jiangxi Province, was born in 1942. Upon graduation from the Xi'an Institute of Military Telecommunications Engineering, she was assigned a job in a factory. She started her literary career in 1968 and in 1978 was transferred to the Reseach Institute of Qing-dynasty History of the People's University of China in Beijing. Her works include historical novels The Everlasting Grass, The fall of a Dynasty, and evening Drum Moring Bell.
