Temptations of Sunshine and Wilderness

This picture album reveals the extraordinary experience of the Chinese woman painter Ba Huang's tours across Ngari, Tibet. It also shows her first-hand investigation of the Guge kingdom in this area, which mysteriously ceased to exist about 300 years age. Ba Huang describes, by her words as well as pictures, charming landscapes and cultural phenomena of Ngari, the No-Man's land, and the Guge Kingdom, all of which is permeated with her unique artistic intuition, reason and fell of life as an Oriental woman artist. The picture album sings odes to the simplicity, obstinacy and purity of life, which are integrated with the vast land and the sunshine of the Tibet plateau. The large-format album offers the readers 200 photographs and 90.000 words, which are the fruit of Bahuang's 40.000-kilometre travels across Tibet, Ngari in particular. Its prodigious colours, multi-dimensional pondering over the meaning of life and its firsthand materials combine to make a readable picture album of high artistic and academic values.
