The Wonder of the Great Earth

Man describes this globe on which we live as the mother planet, including man himself, especially as she has kept on giving her all to help man's survival and development. It is, therefore, no exaggeration to say that there be no human beings without the great earth, just as there would be no children without the mother.
The mother earth is respectable as well as beautiful. On her immense bosom are to be found the ice-bound north and south polar regions, the luxuriant tropical rain forests the massive mountains, the meandering rivers, the boundless steppes, the scorching desert, the sky-piercing snow peaks, the below-sea level depressions.... She reveals varying colors and vigors in different seasons of the year, while mornings and evenings her beauty is shown to advantage by the dawn dews and sunset glow-a beauty that is plain and natural and capable of withstanding the test of time. With the passage of time, the modern man finds the mother earth is becoming more and more charming, so that in face of her unrivalled beauty he often feels an irresistible urge to return to Nature, to return to the true and the simple.
While she is charming, the mother earth is also wealthy. On the earth's surface and below it can be found rich stores of resources, on which man has relied for his clothing, food, shelter and transportation from remote antiquity and on which he will continue to rely in days to come. The mother earth is generous, willingly giving away, one by one, the Five Elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth) to her children for their use and enjoyment, who, in turn through their creation and development, endeavor to make the mother earth still more wealthy and beautiful.
While she is wealthy, the mother earth is also diligent, She is the most common and the best-behaving of any member of the star family in the outer space, revolving round the sun year after year, moving from west to east ceaselessly day after day, creating a comfortable, quiet and vigorous environment for man to live in.
As her children, how should human beings handle the mother earth, who is so kind, so generous and so affectionate? History, as well as reality, has offered us many reminder, one of which is that we should cherish her, protect her and love her, so that the mother earth will remain always beautiful, wealthy and pure.
That is the aim this photographic album, The Wonder of the Great Earth, intends to attain while revealing the charm of the mother earth and voicing our heartfelt gratitude for her between its covers.
