The World of Chinese Myths

China has about 4,000 years of written history but myths had their origin in much earlier times. In the primitive society, some forms of literature took shape. One of them was myths. When primitive men observed natural phenomena that could not be accomplished by human power, they made up stories to explain them and these became myths. When myths became more human semi gods appeared.
