Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is located at the far south of Beijing. Guangxi is known for Guilin and its landscapes made of impressive conical hills commonly called sugar loaves, its numerous karstic caves, and its wonderful Lijiang River.
The ethnic groups that compose Guangxi's population are very visible and colorful; more than 90 percent of the 16 million Zhuang of China live in this autonomous region. Zhuang is also the most numerous ethnic group in China after the Han.
Guangxi is in fact a tapestry of landscapes. With over 80 percent of the region being hills and mountains, it offers fantastic views, beautiful sceneries, year-round greenery, clear waters, lush vegetation, tropical rain forests, vertical gardens, and terraced fields. Its green coverage reaches 52.7 percent, and Nanning is, in this regard, among the leading Chinese cities.
