The Tibet Museum, located at the southeast corner of the Norbulingka Road in Lhasa, is the first large-size comprehensive modern museum in the Tibet Autonomous Region. It has a rich collection of cultural relics, including relics of the prehistoric period, title-conferring documents issued in the feudal dynasties, imperial seals, gold albums and gifts. The collection also contains numerous Buddha statues, and figure paintings, rare sutras on pattra leaves and birch back, and manuscripts written with gold, silver or coral powder, as well as various printed Sanskrit and Tibetan scriptures and colourful Tangka paintings in different styles. Unique Tibetan handicrafts, costumes, jewellery, gold ware, silver ware and jade ware are also in the collection. This pictorial album refers to the various aspects of Tibetan history and culture and shows the wisdom and creativity of the Tibetan people.
