China Panorama (Intermediate) - Approaching Chinese vol.2

China Panorama is a series of Chinese textbooks prepared by The Development Centre for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, P.R.C. Ministry of Education. It consists of textbooks of various levels including Chinese Phonetics, Approaching Chinese, Intermediate Chinese, Chinese for Business and Chinese for Tourism. The first four books are meant for beginners, the next three are designed for intermediate learners and the last two (yet to be published) are for advanced users. While they are part of a series they remain independent and systematic. Each textbook is accompanied by audio video tapes and CD-rom. Approaching Chinese (in three volumes) is intended for beginners whose native language is not Chinese. After completing this course the learner should have a command of about 1000 basic words and 200 sentence patterns. The course includes over 3000 commonly used sentence patterns for daily communication. Each volume contains 10 lessons with the following contents: Examples of usage, New words & phrases; Texts; Notes; Exercises; A Glimpse of Modern Chinese Culture; & Writing demonstration. Each lesson is arranged in three parts. Parts one and two introduce new language items together with corresponding practice, and part three is composed of reviews and exercises (new words drills, pattern drills, comprehensive exercises, pronunciation drills) and the special column 'A Glimpse of Modern Chinese Culture.'
