Jump High is a series of Chinese textbooks for the compulsory courses foreigners take in college, with five vertical skills (intensive reading, conversation, listening, writing, translation) and seven horizontal levels (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) matching with one another. All learners, ranging from total beginners to high-level ones, can find something suitable for themselves. Intensive Reading TEXTBOOK 5 is a textbook for the intensive reading course in the first semester of the third year in college. It is composed of 15 lessons altogether, consisting of texts, new words, notes and unit reviews. Every five lessons make up a unit.
《汉语纵横•精读课本5(第2版)》练习题型多样，题量丰富，此次修订仍保留了这一特点。为便于学习和使用，将课本与相应练习各自独立成册。 初版教材每册课本“词语总表”标注了每个词语在《高等学校外国留学生汉语言专业教学大纲》、《汉语水平词汇与汉字等级大纲》中所属等级，此次修订增加了词语在2010年10月颁布的《汉语国际教育用音节汉字词汇等级划分》中所属等级，方便使用者参考。 国内对外汉语教学模式一般都将汉语基础语法项目和语言点安排在初级阶段学习，而此时正是学习者汉语水平最低阶段，讲解语法点和语言点会遇到一些专业术语，将增加学习负担。此次修订，我们采纳了使用者的意见，增加了预科、一年级上册两个等级各类教材的英语注释。 每册课本前增加的“使用说明”详细说明了本册课本的适用对象、课时安排、讲解重点以及注意事项。
