The term "global citizen" has been frequently seen in social media in recent years, and there is such a Chinese-English bilingual writer who is a multimedia artist, documentary director, curator, and director of the British Chinese Contemporary Art Center. She has lived in Shanghai, New York, Los Angeles, and London, and now lives in Berlin, Germany, and Manchester, England. She is a veritable "citizen of the world". She is Zhu Xiaowen.
“世界公民(global citizen)”这个词汇在近几年的网络媒体中屡见不鲜,而有这样一位中英双语写作者,她是多媒体艺术家、纪录片导演、策展人、英国华人当代艺术中心总监;她先后旅居上海、纽约、洛杉矶、伦敦、柏林等地,现居德国柏林与英国曼城,是名副其实的“世界公民”。她就是朱晓闻。
In 2020, her Chinese-English bilingual book "Oriental Silk" was published in Germany by the well-known art publishing house Hatje Cantz and distributed in several English-speaking countries and regions. Her essays, art reviews, and other articles are also widely published in Chinese and English media. As a multimedia artist, Zhu Xiaowen mixes video, photography, and writing in his creative media, focusing on concepts or images such as diaspora, alienation, identity, change, and memory. Her artworks have been exhibited hundreds of times around the world. She has won the Chivitra Ranieri Foundation Scholarship, the Munich International Documentary Award for Best Short Film, and the Maryland Ginsberg Artist-in-Residence Award, among others.
2020年,她的中英双语图书《Oriental Silk乡绸》由知名艺术出版社Hatje Cantz在德国出版并在数个英语国家和地区发行;她的散文、艺术评论等类文章也常见诸中英文媒体。而身为多媒体艺术家的朱晓闻,其创作媒介混合了影像、摄影与写作,着重表现离散、异邦、身份、变迁、回忆等概念或意象的主题,其艺术作品在世界各地进行过上百次展出。她曾获得奇维特拉·拉涅利基金会奖学金、慕尼黑国际纪录片最佳短片奖及马里兰·金斯伯格艺术家驻留奖等。
In November 2022, her new book "Travel the world and meet interesting people" was officially published. With her unique cross-cultural perspective and visual art experience, the author presents nine stories of encounters with various characters: a Los Angeles philanthropist, a reclusive artist in the California Desert, a Jewish princess from Iran, the meditation layman in New Mexico…

In March, the author Zhu Xiaowen will be a guest at Guanghua Bookstore, and together with the interview guests Nicky Harman and Li Zixin, they will share the world's footprint behind the new book.

Zhu Xiaowen, born in Shanghai in 1986, graduated from Shanghai No. 3 Girls Middle School, Tongji University, and Syracuse University in the United States, and studied at the Offenbach School of Design in Germany. Lives in Berlin, Germany, and Manchester, UK. In 2020, her Chinese-English bilingual book "Oriental Silk" was published in Germany by the well-known art publishing house Hatje Cantz and distributed in several English-speaking countries and regions; her essays, art reviews, and other articles are also widely published in Chinese and English media. Zhu Xiaowen is currently the director of Esea Contemporary Art Center in Manchester.
朱晓闻,1986年生于上海,先后毕业于上海市第三女子中学、同济大学及美国锡拉丘兹大学, 并曾在德国奥芬巴赫设计学院深造。现居德国柏林和英国曼城。 2020年,她的中英双语图书《Oriental Silk乡绸》由知名艺术出版社Hatje Cantz在德国出版并在数个英语国家和地区发行;她的散文、艺术评论等类文章也常见诸中英文媒体。朱晓闻现为曼彻斯特esea contemporary艺术中心总监。
Nicky Harman, a translator, served as the chairman of the Association of British Literary Translators from 2014 to 1017. Her major translation works include Zhu Xiaowen's "Oriental Silk", Huang Beijia's "I Want to Be a Good Child", Jia Pingwa's "Ji Hua" and "Happy", Yan Ge's "Our Family" and "White Horse", and Rao Pingru's "Our Story" and so on.
Nicky Harman,翻译家,曾于2014-1017年任英国文学翻译家协会的主席。她的主要翻译作品包括朱晓闻《乡绸》,黄蓓佳《我要做好孩子》,贾平凹《极花》、《高兴》,颜歌《我们家》、《白马》,以及饶平如的《我俩的故事》等。
Li Zixin, founder of the non-fiction writing platform "Sandwich". A senior media professional with 20 years of experience. In 2011, he founded China's first popular non-fiction writing platform, and trained a large number of Chinese writers; he is the author of "Democracy is a technical job: British democratic life in writing", "How to report disasters" and other books.
李梓新,非虚构写作平台“三明治”创始人。20年经验的资深传媒人。2011年创办中国第一个大众非虚构写作平台,培养了大批中文写作者;著有《民主是个技术活儿:英国民主生活走笔》、《灾难如何报道》等书。
